Epidermis structured around a central tower and a constellation of taut elastic textile surfaces. The work traces the negotiated co-evolution of biological and technical forces within contemporary digital environments.

The tower functions as a digital totem, materialising algorithmic order as spatial structure. The surrounding membranes form an exposed epidermis under sustained strain, stretched around the core and registering the pressures it generates, rendering adaptation as visible tension. Drawing on Bernard Stiegler’s understanding of technics as shaping human temporality, the installation engages information saturation and perceptual conditioning as lived conditions of accelerated networked life. A continuous pulse of light and sound establishes a rhythmic field in which synthetic breathing becomes both measure and symptom of survival.

Artists: 郑文涛 Venn (Wentao Zheng) & 刘馨瑜 Xinyu Liu
Engineering Support: 周炜 Wei Zhou

Venn and Xinyu's collaborative practice situates system and embodiment within constructed environments where technological processes materialise as spatial and sensorial conditions. Mediation here operates as structure, shaping perception, memory, and collective experience.

郑文涛 Venn (Wentao Zheng)

Venn is a cross-media artist and visual designer born in Fujian, currently based in Shanghai. His practice centres on real-time audiovisual performance and responsive environments, working with light, sound, and temporal rhythm as primary materials. Through dynamic computational systems, he foregrounds immediacy, immersion, and embodied intensity.

His works have been presented at Beijing Strawberry Music Festival, West Bund Museum Shanghai, Shanghai Concert Hall, and Suzhou Bay Digital Art Museum. He has also engaged in cross-sector collaborations across cultural and commercial contexts.

刘馨瑜 Xinyu Liu

Xinyu is an interdisciplinary artist, designer, and curator based between Beijing and London. Her work examines digital infrastructures and archives as systems configuring attention, historical narration, and perceptual conditions. Through moving image and installation, she foregrounds the architectures within which reception takes form.

Recent exhibitions include South London Gallery (London), the Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro (MAM Rio), and Songzhuang Art Museum (Beijing). She is the founder of the curatorial and research platform Field Elastic.
